But it’s essential to address how right-wing rhetoric often targets marginalized communities using hypotheticals instead of actual statistics. This tactic ignores the real material conditions and lived experiences of trans individuals. We exist in a cis-heteronormative, patriarchal, and frequently violent society, navigating and striving to thrive within it. It's puzzling how radical feminists fixate solely on trans women, often overlooking the broader picture where marginalized communities are actively working to deconstruct and challenge gender norms. Since moving to the UK in 2016, my life has become increasingly dangerous. I can’t even find a safe place to urinate; if I use the men’s room, I risk being attacked, and going into the women’s room can lead to legal repercussions. It’s frustrating that the response to our existence often involves a desire for us not to exist— or worse, for us to suffer. I’ve used women’s restrooms for the past 24 years without harm to anyone; in fact, it’s kept me safe. In our society, I am far safer in a women’s restroom than in the men’s.
